The 2010 Kohl Family Reunion

Last weekend was the 2010 Kohl Family Reunion.  Every three years the Kohl's reunite and catch up on their lives.  It is always held in Ellis and Hays.  This year there were almost 200 people, and that is not all of them!  For us, it started on Wednesday evening when Wayne, John, Ron, and Debbie all got into town.  Thursday Whitey and some of his brothers spent the entire day smoking 100 pounds of pork...now that is a lot of pork!  That evening at the Ellis Jr. Free Fair was the kids games.  A lot of us went because this year Jamison and Cole were going to be able to participate in a lot more games.

Friday we started the evening off at the park.  Jamie's cousins did an amazing job organizing the kids games.  Jamison had a blast!  We ate some yummy pulled pork and caught up with family we haven't seen in years!  There was a three way tie for first place in the Kohl Olympics...Go Jess and Randy!

After the park we all met down at the VFW in Ellis.  There was a bean bag toss and fishing pond for the little kids.  I think Jamison spent the entire evening playing those games!

Saturday morning started bright and early with a pancake feed down at Fire Station Park.  After everyone was fed the canoe races started.  What a blast!  Jamie and I were partners.  I was a tad nervous about this.  He is way more competitive than me and also a lot more athletic.  But, after the first round we were in 3rd place out of 30 teams!  Way to go us!  After the races all the families went to take some much needed naps.

Saturday night was at the VFW in Hays.  We had a wonderful dinner, an auction and raffle to make money for the next famiy reunion, and wonderful music provided by Jimmy Dee in memory of Timmy.  Jamison had a great time dancing and "playing" his drums!  It was a long, exhausting weekend, but always well worth it!
